Noël is an all-round director. His short film The Hornhunter (2014) was featured on Nowness, and his short Spoetnik (2015) premiered at the Berlinale festival, where it was nominated for a Kristal Beer Award. The shorts Botanica and Limburgia both premiered in 2017 and were chosen to compete at the Dutch Film Festival the same year. In 2020 Noël was selected for participation in a talent development program as one of the Berlinale Talents at the International Film Festival Berlin. Additionally, Noël has directed various commercials.
On top of his work as a director, Noël is also active as a photographer. His fotos are remarkably stylised and ironic and have featured in magazines, most notably in Volkskrant Magazine (2022). Driven by stories, Noël is fascinated by little worlds and the clumsiness of life. This manifests itself in his films by sharing the stories nobody is waiting for, or rather, the stories nobody knew they had to know about. Visually Noël tends to keep things simple whilst discretely adding subtle hints of irony to his images. Moving between the worlds film and photography, his work is very much a reflection of this hybridity.
Recently, Noël worked on Moonriders (2021-2023), a non-fiction television series for the VPRO geared towards children, which was renewed for a second season and was nominated as Best Dutch non-fiction series at Cinekid.
Currently, he has started filming his debut film and on top of this, he is working on two new features and a drama series.
